Once upon a time, not really that long ago was a British cap named Bobby Yarwood who lived in a tiny village called Cresswell. Cresswell is located somewhere between Canada and California.  The only way travelers would know that their journey to the MG mecca of the West Coast, was to find an red English phone booth along a heavily wooded lane. Vintage MG racers from all over the land would make the long trek in search of Bobby's knowledge with hopes of of building a very, very fast race car....

3 race cars, growing families and 25 years later, Ed and I are still racing together but now in vintage.  As much fun as modern cars are they just don't have the soul of an old racer. Contemporary cars, brake well, turn well and go fast as hell and pretty much anybody can drive them.  Old cars require skill sets that are needed to make underpowered, poor braking cars go fast.

In order to give you perspective of how we got to where we are, I need to go back a few years to 1984. I was involved in Solo 1 with SCCA in my 84 VW Gti, VWs hot rod at the time. A local shop known for its Datsun racing experience FAR, was not too far from my home so I decided to pay them a visit to see if they were willing to help me with the development of the Gti.  Not only were they interested, but already new car the as the shop I has been going to was sending it to them for much of the work... (in the same complex)   An instant friendship happened upon meeting Ed. Ed ran the parts and was the key to the VW development and as it turns out, 2 years of sponsorship.
We did well with one of the only Gti's at the time, winning the SLUSH series in 85 and awarded the Rookie of the Year trophy for the San Francisco Region.   Lots of standing, not enough driving took me to a track day at Sears Point with local club called the Capri Club. (now called NASA) One lap around the track with my instructor and I was hooked...  The next day I called Ed to see if we could install a roll cage as I wanted to go road racing....

Two friends, two cars, one passion.

I have been fortunate in life to have found a friend that understood my passion for racing.  And of all things vintage cars.  This is a story of how two very good friends sharing a passion for cars built in the 50's and 60's found a 1962 MGA Roadster Mk II, then a 1957 MGA Roadster Mk I then raising the bar in preparation and presentation.

More to come...
